Spring, Glorious Spring!

We've had one of those erratic springs endemic only to Kansas...warm, rainy, cold, snowy, frosty, and then boom...80s. With Bob home, we've been tackling a lot of the projects that we've been putting off. On this day, we got a little start on our yard. It's a big backyard, so there's always a lot to do. Our little baby trees we planted 4 1/2 years ago are doing well, and survived the spring frosts to live another year!

Here's a little bird's nest we found in one of our pear trees. The blue sky. The white flowers. The strong branches of our little baby tree. It's all too glorious for words!

Here's our latest project: raised garden beds. I've been wanting to plant a garden since we've moved here, but I keep having these pesky babies...this year, there's no excuse. Some clever person in our ward dubbed them "stimulus gardens," which is so perfect! We've completed phase 1, building the frames. This week, Phase 2: we'll stake them in place and order some soil and mulch. Next week, we'll get everything planted!
