Aidan and the Case of the Missing Tonsils (and Adenoids)

Our poor little Aidan has had a rough time this past year with ear infections, fluid in his ears, and strep throat. Plus, he snores like the Dickens and his tonsils are big. Very big. So, the ENT decided that it was time to give them the boot.

Ready for surgery...

Post surgery. Have you ever seen anything so pathetic? He was so good in the hospital. Great nurses, unlimited slushies, a library of kids movies...Children's Mercy rocks!

A few hours post op, getting ready to go home. The first thing that perked Aidan up was the t-shirt he got at the hospital that said "My Surgery was Bear-able." The pain meds were still in full effect...

A few days later, while Aidan was still home from school, I invited a few of his friends over for popsicles and Wii. It was a much needed break for Aidan.

Overall, the recovery has gone well. It's been rough for Aidan, but what kid hasn't had a hard time recovering from a tonsillectomy? The freezer was overflowing with ice cream and popsicles, which was the only way we could get Aidan to take his medicine. I'll be glad when he's fully recovered and don't have to have that fight again, but I'm sure the kids will miss the ice cream free-for-all!

Glad Aidan's on the road to recovery! Did you save any chocolate popsicles for me?
